Tiki Tiki Ta is the first (demoscene) demo for the Tiki-100. In this writeup I will describe the process of making a demo for an old platform with virtually no active development community.
When I started this project I had no previous experience with 8 bits platforms. I have written demos for PC (DOS/Windows, 16 and 32 bit) and Gameboy Advance. I've also done a little bit of coding on the Amiga.
I got the idea of demo for the Tiki-100 around 2008. I started tinkering with the emulator by Asbjørn Djupdal to see what it would take to actually write software for it. It turned out to be fairly easy to get a program up and running in the CP/M-like environment. I then borrowed a Tiki-100 but couldn't get the floppy drives to work. The next few years I didn't do much, but in 2012 I bought my own Tiki-100 and was ready to continue. From 2012 to 2014 I did some experiments with the hardware, wrote some tools and got a decent development environment up and running. From 2014 onwards I started working more on the demo itself. The demo was released in the summer of 2016 at Solskogen where it placed second in the oldskool demo competition.
